CCP Games has unveiled an ambitious roadmap for 2025, setting the stage for an extraordinary year in EVE Online. During a special Directors’ Stream, the studio detailed two major expansions, the return of beloved in-game events, and the much-anticipated EVE Fanfest 2025, happening May 1–3 at Reykjavík’s iconic Harpa Concert Hall. Fans can catch the Directors’ Stream on CCP’s official Twitch and YouTube channels.
The next expansion, launching in Summer 2025, will focus on giving players more control over New Eden’s sandbox. With tools for customizing player-owned sovereign space, capsuleers will have unprecedented opportunities to set their own agendas and create compelling content. Designed to empower corporations and enhance player agency, the update promises to enrich EVE Online’s dynamic and community-driven gameplay.
One of the standout features is the introduction of Freelance Projects, allowing players to design and complete missions for others. From mercenary contracts to collaborative ventures, this system is set to transform the game’s storytelling, exploration, and relationship-building. Combined with new ships, tactical objectives, and features for all fleet sizes, the expansion is expected to reshape warfare and provide fertile ground for small and large fleets alike.
“This year, we’re putting even more power in the hands of our capsuleers,” said Snorri Árnason, Game Director for EVE Online. Creative Director Bergur Finnbogason added that player feedback has been instrumental in refining the upcoming expansions.
In addition to new content, fan-favorite events like Capsuleer Day, Crimson Harvest, and Winter Nexus will return, alongside the Alliance Tournament. Winter 2025 will also bring the second major expansion, further elevating EVE Online’s already iconic universe.
