Cyberbrains, assemble. A brand-new THE GHOST IN THE SHELL TV anime is officially landing in July 2026, and the first wave of details just dropped alongside the opening of the massive franchise exhibition at TOKYO NODE.
Let’s talk sound first—because this lineup is wild. Music is led by Taisei Iwasaki (BELLE), joined by Ryo Konishi (2025 Osaka World Expo Opening Ceremony) and U.S.-based composer YUKI KANESAKA (Dr. STONE). Expect a score that’s equal parts cerebral, cinematic, and emotionally charged.
Direction comes from Mokochan in his debut as series director after assisting on DAN DA DAN. Scripts are handled by acclaimed sci-fi author EnJoe Toh (Self-Reference ENGINE, Godzilla Singular Point), which basically guarantees big-brain concepts. Character design and chief animation direction are in the hands of Shuhei Handa (Scott Pilgrim Takes Off, Spriggan).
Animation production? Science SARU—yes, the studio behind Inu-Oh and DAN DA DAN—so expect bold visuals and kinetic style.
A first key visual and PV are already out, and if this team is any signal, Section 9’s return is going to be stylish, philosophical, and very, very cyberpunk.
