Paramount has just dropped the first trailer for its new survival thriller—and it looks like a cold, brutal ride into the wild.

Heart of the Beast brings together a heavyweight lineup led by Brad Pitt, alongside J.K. Simmons and Anna Lambe, in a story that strips survival down to its rawest essentials: man, nature, and loyalty.

Directed by filmmaker David Ayer, the film follows former Special Forces officer James Belmont (Pitt) and his retired combat dog Odin after a devastating plane crash leaves them stranded deep in Alaska’s unforgiving wilderness. What follows isn’t just a fight against freezing temperatures and isolation—it’s a test of endurance, instinct, and the bond between soldier and companion.

The official synopsis makes it clear: this is a story about survival at its most primal. Cut off from civilization, Belmont and Odin are forced to rely on each other completely as they battle the elements in an environment that offers no mercy and no shortcuts.

And if the trailer is anything to go by, Paramount is leaning hard into tension and emotional weight. The film’s tagline says it plainly: “It’s not who you live for… it’s who you’d die for.”

With its mix of survival thriller grit and emotional storytelling, Heart of the Beast is shaping up to be more than just a man-versus-nature story—it’s a portrait of loyalty under pressure.

Heart of the Beast arrives exclusively in theaters on September 25, 2026.
