Indie developer Cygnus Cross has launched the first playable demo for Emberville as part of Steam Next Fest, running through October 26. Even better, everything you accomplish in the demo transfers to the game’s Early Access launch on October 27, 2026, so you can get a head start before launch day.
The adventure begins in the mysterious Vitromotus, where you awaken with no memory of how you got there. After surviving your first journey through the darkness, you arrive at the remains of Emberville. From there, it’s up to you to rebuild the town, rescue its scattered residents, and fight back against the sinister forces threatening the world.
Emberville mixes action RPG combat with town restoration, crafting, farming, gathering, and plenty of exploration. Rescue new characters to unlock abilities, classes, crafting opportunities, and storylines, while developing your own customizable estate. Its multi-layered combat system also lets you experiment with weapon combos and inherited skills to create a playstyle that suits you.
The game boasts an impressive voice cast, too, featuring Doug Cockle, Amelia Tyler, Matthew Mercer, Jennifer English, Ben Starr, Alex Jordan, Abubakar Salim, and many more.
