The Flaming Lips are back with a brand-new album, and they’re bringing plenty of psychedelic weirdness along for the ride. The legendary alternative rock band has announced The Teardrop Throbs, their first all-new studio album in more than six years and their debut release for Third Man Records.

Arriving January 22, 2027, the 17th official studio album from the three-time Grammy-winning band features new music produced by The Flaming Lips alongside Taylor Johnson, Dave Fridmann, and Scott Booker. Fans can get an early taste with the release of the first single, “God Will Control The Werewolves,” available to stream now.

The album will arrive digitally, on CD, and on vinyl, including a limited-edition Teardrop Blue pressing.

The band is also taking the new material on the road with an intimate series of two-night performances. Stops include Nashville, New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, and London, kicking off January 22 at Nashville’s Brooklyn Bowl. Other venues include Irving Plaza, The Bellwether, Chicago’s Metro, and London’s O2 Shepherds Bush. Find all tour dates here.

Presales begin October 29 at 10 a.m. local time, with general ticket sales starting October 30 at 10 a.m.

With a career spanning more than four decades, The Flaming Lips have never been particularly interested in playing it safe. From the landmark Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots to their famously unpredictable live performances, Wayne Coyne and company continue to carve out their own corner of alternative music.
