Middle-earth is getting a beautiful new musical addition. Norwegian alt-pop artist AURORA has teamed up with Emmy Award-winning composer Bear McCreary for “Morning Shall Come,” an ethereal new song written for Season 3 of Amazon’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.
Released through Capitol Records, the track was written by McCreary and AURORA, with lyrics by McCreary and series showrunner J.D. Payne. The song accompanies the story of Galadriel and Celeborn, portrayed by Morfydd Clark and Jamie Campbell Bower.
For AURORA, the collaboration carries a personal connection. A longtime Tolkien fan, she described working on the series as an honor, reflecting on the story’s exploration of the light behind darkness and the darkness behind good intentions.
An official performance video for “Morning Shall Come” premieres November 9 exclusively on Amazon Music before arriving on AURORA’s YouTube channel. Filmed between Sky Studios in London and the treetops of Rivendell, the video promises a fitting visual companion to the song.
The complete Season 3 soundtrack arrives November 13 across digital and streaming platforms, with an expanded digital collector’s edition planned for a later release.
McCreary’s score continues to build on the show’s distinctive musical identity, featuring performances from The Mystery of the Bulgarian Voices, Finland’s Mieskuoro Huutajat, Meshuggah vocalist Jens Kidman, and cast members Sophia Nomvete and Morfydd Clark. Expect an ambitious mix of choirs, folk instruments and Tolkien-inspired fictional languages.
The collaboration also comes during a busy stretch for AURORA. She recently marked the tenth anniversary of her debut album, All My Demons Greeting Me as a Friend, with The Moth Tapes, a collection of demos, alternate versions and previously unreleased material. She also joined The Chemical Brothers’ Tom Rowlands for TOMORA’s acclaimed debut album, COME CLOSER.
For McCreary, whose credits include Battlestar Galactica, Outlander, Foundation, God of War and The Walking Dead, the new track adds another interesting chapter to an already impressive career.
