Montreal indie band knitting are leaning into memory, mortality and messy self-discovery on “I Wasn’t Fully Cooked,” the latest preview of Souvenir, arriving June 26 through Mint Records.
The new single balances emotional weight with the loose chemistry of close friends jamming in a room. Directed by Sasha Khalimonova, the accompanying video amplifies that unease through hypnotic slow motion and restless movement. Performance artist Celia Green and Alex Mona Al Refai Al Jandali drift through scenes that feel suspended between impact and aftermath, mirroring the song’s tension beautifully.
Souvenir continues knitting’s fascination with memory and reinvention. Earlier singles “I Want To Remember Everything” and “Here Comes” explored childhood awkwardness, growing pains and the strange pressure of becoming an adult. Recorded and produced entirely in-house, the album captures a band trusting instinct over polish — and sounding sharper because of it.
Since emerging from Montreal’s DIY scene, the quartet have earned praise from Stereogum, Pitchfork and FLOOD while sharing stages with Wishy, Preoccupations and Wild Pink. With Souvenir, knitting sound fearless, intimate and turning complicated feelings into something ignore.
