Action RPG fans have a packed weekend ahead. Path of Exile 2 is opening its gates for a free weekend from May 29 through June 1 PDT, giving players a chance to dive into the massive “Return of the Ancients” expansion without spending a dime.
And if the grind hooks you? There’s a limited-time deal waiting in the wings. From May 29 to June 12, the Early Access Supporter Pack is slashed by 50%, unlocking the full game alongside 150 in-game points to spend in the store.
A Free Weekend Packed With New Content
The spotlight of the update is the brand-new challenge league, Runes of Aldur, which adds fresh progression systems, cosmetic rewards, and new reasons to push deeper into the endgame.
Players who complete eight in-game challenges can unlock pieces of the Knight of Aldur Armor Set, plus an exclusive Hideout totem decoration. As with other cosmetic rewards in Path of Exile 2, these items are purely visual and won’t impact gameplay balance.
But cosmetics are only part of the story.
“Return of the Ancients” also delivers one of the game’s biggest gameplay shakeups yet, including:
- A fully reworked Atlas Tree
- Expanded crafting systems
- Powerful new Unique items
- Major endgame improvements
- Improved campaign replayability
- A new Build Planner feature
- Multiple quality-of-life upgrades
For players who love experimenting with builds, the expansion also introduces two new Ascendancy classes: Martial Artist and Spirit Walker, opening up even more possibilities for theorycrafters and hardcore grinders alike.
Discord Rewards Sweeten the Deal
The free weekend comes with an extra bonus for Discord users.
Players who launch Path of Exile 2 and play for at least 15 minutes can earn the exclusive Runeseeker Avatar Decoration through a limited-time Discord Quest.
The Quest runs from May 29 at 10 AM PDT through June 5 at 5 PM PDT.
To claim it:
- Select “Accept Quest” from the left-side menu under Shop in Discord
- Mobile users can access it through the Quest tab
- Progress tracking requires the Discord desktop app
