Former developers from BioWare, Inflexion Games, and Timbre Games have unveiled a new indie venture, Studio Reset, with ambitions rooted in focused storytelling, sustainable development, and player-driven mystery design.

The Canadian studio was founded by Kaelin Lavallée, Kris Schoneberg, and Francis Lacuna — developers whose collective credits span major franchises including Mass Effect, Dragon Age, The Long Dark, and Anthem. Rather than pursuing blockbuster-scale production, the team says Studio Reset is intentionally built around a smaller, more sustainable creative model.
The studio’s debut title is described as a neon-noir supernatural mystery set in a stylized Canadian city. At the center of the project is a mechanic the team calls “Parallax Deduction,” where multiple investigators offer distinct perspectives on the same case. According to Studio Reset, each character’s background, instincts, and biases shape how players interpret clues and uncover the truth.

The developers are also emphasizing a “no moon logic” philosophy — a direct response to the often obscure puzzle design associated with classic adventure games. The goal, the team says, is to ensure every clue and solution feels grounded in observation and deduction rather than arbitrary leaps in logic.
Visually, the project aims to blend surreal atmosphere with familiar urban spaces, creating what the studio describes as a world that feels “beautiful, uneasy, and familiar in the wrong way.” While the game remains in early development, it has already received support from the Canada Media Fund.
With its mix of supernatural mystery, investigative storytelling, and player-focused puzzle design, Studio Reset is positioning itself as a studio to watch in Canada’s growing indie development scene.
