Sony is loading up the hype train for summer gaming season.
The company has officially announced a new PlayStation State of Play for Tuesday, June 2, 2026, and this one sounds less like a quick update reel and more like a full-blown showcase event. Clocking in at more than 60 minutes, the presentation is expected to spotlight Insomniac’s long-awaited Marvel’s Wolverine while also delivering a stack of PS5 announcements from studios around the globe.
For PlayStation fans, this could be one of the biggest streams of the year.
The headline attraction is clearly Marvel’s Wolverine. Sony has confirmed the game will receive an “in-depth look,” which likely means fresh gameplay footage, story details, and maybe — finally — a clearer sense of when players will actually get their claws on it. Ever since Insomniac knocked it out of the park with the Spider-Man games, expectations for Wolverine have been sky-high.

A runtime pushing past the one-hour mark signals confidence. Companies do not stretch showcases this long unless they have serious material to show, and the timing suggests Sony wants to plant its flag ahead of the next wave of blockbuster PS5 releases.
Beyond Wolverine, things get interesting fast.
Sony has stayed tight-lipped about the rest of the lineup, but the rumor mill is already in overdrive. Speculation floating around online points to appearances from rumored first-party projects, potential updates on Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, and even whispers about Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3. Some fans are also betting on a surprise God of War reveal.
Important caveat: none of those titles are confirmed.
Still, the sheer scale of the presentation has people reading between the lines. A 60-plus-minute State of Play feels much bigger than Sony’s smaller, laser-focused streams from the past year. This has the energy of a showcase designed to map out the next chapter of the PS5 era.
At this point, Sony has accomplished the most important thing any showcase announcement can do: get people talking.
The event will stream live on PlayStation’s official YouTube and Twitch channels on June 2 at 2 PM PT / 5 PM ET. For viewers in Illinois, that translates to a comfortable 4 PM CDT start — ideal timing for an after-work game reveal marathon.
