Titan Forge Games has officially launched the first update for SMITE 2‘s 24/7 Closed Alpha stage, bringing exciting new content to the game. Two fan-favorite gods, Nu Wa and Amaterasu, are now part of the roster, each introducing unique and dynamic playstyles that are sure to shake up the battlefield.

Nu Wa, the Chinese goddess of order and creation, is known in mythology for creating humanity and repairing the pillars of Heaven. In SMITE 2, she’s a force to be reckoned with, excelling at crowd control and area damage. Her ultimate ability sends a powerful celestial beam across the map, striking all enemies simultaneously.

Amaterasu, based on the Shinto sun goddess and ruler of the heavens in Japanese mythology, brings a different set of strengths. Her abilities focus on auras that boost her team’s power and movement speed, alongside sword attacks that pack a serious punch.

Beyond these new gods, the update introduces several community-requested Ranked Features, including the much-anticipated Role Preference System and Ranked Leaderboards. A new tutorial has been added to help players quickly dive into Arena Mode, and Co-op Mode has seen improvements as well. Additionally, the Pyromancer returns to Conquest, satisfying longtime fans of the game mode.

For those eager to see the competitive scene in action, the SMITE 2 Founder’s Series is already underway, with open qualifications having kicked off on September 14. The tournament will culminate in a final event held at the HyperX Arena in Las Vegas from January 17-19, 2025, boasting a $300k prize pool. More details on the series can be found on the official SMITE 2 website.

Players looking to gain guaranteed access to the closed testing phase can purchase the Founder’s Edition on Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox, or the Epic Games Store. Additionally, SMITE 2 can be wishlisted on Steam, and players can register for a chance to participate in alpha testing through the official site.
