The White Stripes are marking the 20th anniversary of their groundbreaking 2005 album Get Behind Me Satan with the release of a limited-edition vinyl and a brand-new music video. The celebratory 2LP edition is now available via Third Man Records, featuring one red and one clear disc, each with black wisps—a striking tribute to the duo’s iconic aesthetic.
Originally recorded on the stairway of Jack White’s Detroit home, Get Behind Me Satan remains one of the band’s most inventive records. Departing from their trademark guitar-and-drums sound, the album boldly incorporates marimba, tympani, mandolin, and bells. While it wasn’t initially released on vinyl, the album’s unique sonic direction and chart-topping singles—like “Blue Orchid,” “The Denial Twist,” and the GRAMMY®-nominated “My Doorbell”—quickly cemented its place as a modern rock classic. The album debuted in the Top 3 across the US, UK, Canada, and Australia, and earned critical acclaim and Gold and Platinum certifications globally. It also secured the band their second GRAMMY® for Best Alternative Album.
In addition to the vinyl release, fans can now enjoy a stunning new stop-motion video for the fan-favorite track “Red Rain,” streaming on YouTube. Directed by Brooklyn-based filmmaker Conor Callahan and executive produced by Audg Fenter, the video is a meticulously crafted visual experience, created using 5,980 miniature bricks held together with royal icing—yes, the kind used in cake decorating. It also features Super7’s recently released Jack and Meg White ReAction Figures, adding an extra layer of nostalgic charm. The video reportedly took over 80 hours to complete.
This milestone comes as The White Stripes prepare for another major honor: induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2025. The duo joins a stellar lineup including Outkast, Cyndi Lauper, Joe Cocker, and Soundgarden. The induction ceremony will take place November 8 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, streaming live on Disney+, with a special airing on ABC and Hulu to follow.
With a fresh look back at Get Behind Me Satan and well-deserved recognition for their lasting influence, 2025 is shaping up to be a landmark year for The White Stripes.
