The official story trailer for Grounded 2 sets the stage for a bold and ambitious sequel, jumping ahead a few years to 1992. Picking up after the events of the original game, the four teen heroes are now being celebrated for their role in exposing the shady human experiments conducted by the biotech giant Ominent. During a public ceremony at Brookhollow Park—a location that’s vastly larger and more diverse than the original backyard setting—the teens are honored for their bravery. But just as quickly as their moment arrives, chaos erupts.

A sudden, mysterious explosion rocks the park, shrinking the teens back down to insect size. In the aftermath, their allies—Dr. Wendell Tully and the quirky robot BURG.L—vanish, leaving the group to fend for themselves once more in a giant, dangerous world. But this time, the stakes are even higher, and the landscape even stranger.

Brookhollow Park isn’t just bigger—it’s full of new, twisted environments: buried playgrounds, decaying food trucks, toppled ice cream carts, and eerie anthills. With a map that’s reportedly three times the size of the original, Grounded 2invites players into a world brimming with discovery and peril.

Ominent, the corporate villain from the first game, returns with a friendlier public image—but their sinister experiments are far from over. The trailer teases a darker mystery behind the teens’ second disappearance, suggesting a deeper conspiracy at play.

The gameplay itself looks to be a major leap forward. Players can now ride insects as mounts, battle new enemies like cockroaches, and possibly face mind-controlled bugs. Core mechanics like cooperative survival, base-building, and crafting return, enhanced by RPG elements and new environmental challenges.

Launching into early access on July 29, 2025, Grounded 2 will kick off with Act 1—featuring a playable area as large as the entire first game. This promises a much more expansive narrative and gameplay journey as later acts roll out.

With bigger dangers, smarter foes, and a world that’s grown even more unpredictable, Grounded 2 isn’t just a sequel—it’s a reinvention of the tiny survival epic that captivated players the first time around. Get ready to shrink again… the backyard has only just begun to reveal its secrets.
