Apple TV+ has unveiled the trailer for The Lost Bus, a harrowing survival drama arriving in select theaters September 19 in New York, Los Angeles, and London, before its global streaming debut on October 3.
Directed by Academy Award–nominee Paul Greengrass (United 93, Captain Phillips), the film is based on journalist Lizzie Johnson’s acclaimed book Paradise: One Town’s Struggle to Survive an American Wildfire. It dramatizes true events from one of the deadliest wildfires in U.S. history.
Matthew McConaughey stars as a flawed but determined school bus driver who, alongside America Ferrera as a courageous teacher, must fight to protect 22 children trapped on a bus as flames close in. The trailer teases an unrelenting, white-knuckle story of fear, hope, and resilience.
With a screenplay by Brad Ingelsby (Mare of Easttown) and Greengrass, the film is produced by Jason Blum (Blumhouse Productions), Jamie Lee Curtis (Comet Pictures), Ingelsby, and Gregory Goodman. The powerhouse team signals a blend of emotional depth and pulse-pounding tension.
The Lost Bus is more than a disaster thriller—it’s a testament to ordinary people thrust into extraordinary circumstances. Early buzz suggests McConaughey and Ferrera deliver powerhouse performances that could drive awards-season momentum.
Catch The Lost Bus in theaters September 19, and on Apple TV+ October 3.
