RuneScape is bringing its dragons, magic and survival crafting to a whole new audience.

Jagex has confirmed that RuneScape: Dragonwilds will launch its full 1.0 release on September 15, 2026, and Xbox Game Pass subscribers will be able to jump in day one at no extra cost. It marks the first time a game from the iconic RuneScape franchise has come to console.

After attracting more than one million players during Early Access, Dragonwilds is ready for its next chapter. The open-world survival adventure drops players into Ashenfall, a mysterious continent in Gielinor where wild magic is reshaping the land—and dragons are very much in charge.

Solo adventurers and teams of up to four can explore, gather resources, build shelters, level skills, brew potions and unleash some seriously creative magic. Need wood? Summon a spectral axe. Trouble? Blink away in a burst of magic. Fancy turning bones into peaches? Apparently, that’s on the table too.

The ultimate goal is the Dragon Queen, but getting there means battling familiar RuneScape foes, discovering new threats and uncovering the secrets behind Ashenfall’s fractured landscape.

Dragonwilds launches September 15 on Xbox Series X|S via Xbox Game Pass, as well as PlayStation 5, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. It will also arrive on PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium, with physical editions for PS5 and Xbox Series X planned for Q4.

For RuneScape fans—and anyone who enjoys a good survival game with a generous helping of sorcery—September is shaping up to be a big month.
