Nomadic Games’ wuxia-inspired hack-and-slash adventure brings handcrafted stages, brutal boss fights, and martial arts action to Steam Early Access next month.

Sharpen your blade! Burning Sword: Death Sun is heading into Steam Early Access on November 17, 2026, bringing its fast-paced martial arts combat and revenge-driven story to players ready for a challenge.

Developed by Bangkok-based Nomadic Games and published by Rising Tide Publishing, the action game puts players in the role of Zhang Yixian, leader of the Crimson Dust Demon Sect. Back from the brink of death, he has one target in mind: Gao Tianqi, master of the deadly Death Sun poison and the most powerful man in the martial world.

Getting there won’t be easy.

Handcrafted Stages and Deadly Bosses

Early Access launches with five handcrafted stages, five main bosses, and two secret bosses for players willing to explore. Each stage features hidden secrets, upgrades, and unlockables, with no procedurally generated layouts.

Combat is the main attraction. Players can build up the Burning Sword’s Power Gauge to unleash more powerful strikes, use Quick Shot for ranged attacks, drain Qi from marked enemies, and switch between three equipped skills mid-combo. Skill branches, collectible Charms, and an endless, score-focused Arena Mode add even more reasons to keep fighting.

The free demo, released September 30, will remain available through launch, giving curious players a chance to test their skills before jumping into Early Access.

More Content on the Way

November’s launch is just the beginning. Nomadic Games plans to release new chapters every eight weeks, adding stages, bosses, story developments, skills, and Arena challenges. The full game is planned to span five chapters and twelve handcrafted stages, with nine named bosses, two secret bosses, and additional elite enemies.

The team also plans frequent gameplay refinements, with updates potentially arriving daily during particularly active development periods.

“Combat is the heart of Burning Sword,” said Nook, founder of Nomadic Games, emphasizing the team’s goal of making players feel the satisfaction of overcoming fights that once seemed impossible.

With its handcrafted environments, challenging encounters, and steady stream of planned updates, Burning Sword: Death Sun is shaping up to be one to watch for fans of action-heavy martial arts adventures.
