Sidney Prescott is picking up the phone one more time — and this time, Ghostface is closer than ever.
Paramount+ has officially announced that Scream 7, the blood-soaked next chapter in the legendary meta-horror franchise, will begin streaming in the U.S. and Canada on Thursday, May 28. And if the box office numbers are any indication, horror fans are absolutely ready to answer the call.
Directed by franchise architect Kevin Williamson — yes, the same Kevin Williamson who penned the original Scream back in 1996 — the newest installment drags the series back to its emotional roots while dialing the terror all the way up. Williamson co-wrote the screenplay with Guy Busick from a story by James Vanderbilt and Busick, delivering what looks to be the franchise’s most personal nightmare yet.
This time around, the stakes hit Sidney Prescott where it hurts most.
After years of surviving masked maniacs and unimaginable trauma, Sidney (Neve Campbell) has finally built a quiet life away from the chaos. Naturally, Ghostface ruins that immediately. When a new killer emerges and targets Sidney’s daughter — played by breakout star Isabel May — Sidney is forced to confront the horrors she thought she’d buried for good.
And because no Scream movie is complete without an absolutely stacked cast, Scream 7 comes loaded with franchise veterans and fresh victims alike. Alongside Campbell and May are Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding, Anna Camp, David Arquette, Roger L. Jackson, Michelle Randolph, Jimmy Tatro, Mckenna Grace, Asa Germann, Celeste O’Connor, Sam Rechner, Ethan Embry, Mark Consuelos, Tim Simons, Matthew Lillard, Joel McHale, and Courteney Cox.

Released theatrically earlier this year by Paramount Pictures and Spyglass Media Group, Scream 7 absolutely slashed through the competition, pulling in more than $214 million worldwide and becoming the highest-grossing entry in the franchise’s 30-year history.
Not bad for a horror series that still knows exactly how to make audiences jump every time the phone rings.
So lock your doors, check behind the couch, and maybe don’t answer unknown numbers for a while. Ghostface arrives on Paramount+ May 28.
