2x GRAMMY® Award–nominated electronic artist Tycho continues his new era with today’s premiere of the deeply personal new single, “Small Sanctuary,” available now via Ninja Tune/Mom + Pop Music. An official visualizer premieres today on YouTube.
“Small Sanctuary,” which had its premiere at this year’s Burning Man during mastermind Scott Hansen’s traditional sunrise set, finds Hansen fully at the helm, composing, producing, performing, and creating original artwork. The song also sees Hansen once again collaborating with Grizzly Bear’s Chris Taylor, who mixed the track and assisted with additional production, further honing a working relationship begun with the recently released “Time To Run,” available now via Ninja Tune/Mom + Pop Music.
As noted, “Small Sanctuary” marks the latest single from Tycho following this summer’s premiere of the funky “Time To Run,” joined by a narrative-driven music video capturing Hansen’s experiences with the meditative power of music while cross-country running, directed by Patrick Elmore and streaming now at YouTube. Powered by glowing pops of synth, a jagged guitar motif (courtesy of longtime Tycho guitarist Zac Brown), and vivid, energetic beats, the track – which represents the first new Tycho music in two years – sees Hansen returning to his signature instrumental approach following a series of vocal experiments including 2019’s GRAMMY Award-nominated sixth album, WEATHER.
