Joshua Tree-based songwriter and producer Bryce Cloghesy—also known for his work with Crack Cloud—just released his latest single, “Window to the Soul,” from his upcoming album Scarred for Life, set to drop on November 1st via Unheard of Hope.

The track blends expressive, R&B-inspired melodies with syncopated beats and Cloghesy’s poignant vocals, which seamlessly shift from soulful to detached. “‘Window to the Soul’ dives into trauma and its lingering effects, showing how the past can twist and reshape our present,” Cloghesy explains. “Trying to explain it often pulls us further from understanding. It’s like looking through curved glass—each angle challenges what we think is the truth. Life’s like a house of mirrors, and sometimes getting lost is part of the journey. In moments of desperation, logic fades, leaving only raw emotion.”

Following his atmospheric 2020 debut, Deep Web, Scarred for Life explores a wider mix of genres, fusing bass-heavy R&B, dub, and jazz within a more rock-centric framework. Cloghesy, who wrote, recorded, and produced the entire album, set out to capture “the toll of a life lived, and the beautiful complexity of an unrepeatable reality.”

Though the album is mostly reflective and introspective, it’s rich with soul and positivity. Cloghesy’s knack for surprising chord changes and unexpected instrumental shifts keeps the music dynamic, weaving between dark and light, tension and release.
