Releasing September 19, 2025, HIM is not your typical sports movie—and that’s exactly the point. Produced by Jordan Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions and directed by Justin Tipping, HIM is a psychological horror story set in the high-pressure world of professional football. It’s being billed as an “anti-sports horror movie,” and early buzz suggests it lives up to that unsettling label.

The film follows Cameron Cade, a rising football star whose dreams are derailed by a traumatic brain injury. In a strange twist of fate—or perhaps manipulation—he’s invited to train at the private, isolated compound of Isaiah White, a legendary but reclusive quarterback. What starts as mentorship quickly spirals into something much darker. As Cameron is pushed past physical and psychological limits, HIM explores the sinister underbelly of ambition, power, and the cost of greatness.

Julia Fox plays Elsie White, Isaiah’s social media-savvy wife, adding a sharp layer of modern commentary to the narrative. The supporting cast includes Tim Heidecker, Jim Jefferies, and Olympic gold medalist Maurice Greene, rounding out a world that feels uncomfortably real.

Though Jordan Peele isn’t directing or writing, his production influence is clear. Think Get Out meets Any Given Sunday, but darker, stranger, and with blood on the turf. The script—co-written by Zack Akers, Skip Bronkie, and Justin Tipping—was a standout on the Black List of top unproduced screenplays, signaling strong storytelling at the core.

The first trailer and poster already hint at the film’s haunting aesthetic, with one striking image showing a blood-smeared football encased in glass—a trophy of horror.

In a genre that rarely intersects with sports, HIM promises something daringly original. It’s not just about what it takes to win—but what you’re willing to lose.
