Fresh off a run of Northeast dates supporting Wet Leg and Vundabar, NYC indie rock favorites Slow Fiction are keeping the momentum rolling. The five-piece has announced their debut album, dollhouse, arriving August 7, 2026 via new indie label Tight Knit, alongside the release of the striking new single, “satellite.”
Built on shimmering guitars and dynamic energy, “satellite” tackles the growing disconnect of modern life. Frontwoman Julia Vassallo describes the track as an allegory for “collective atrophy” in a culture consumed by an “Us vs. Them” mentality, challenging listeners to rethink empathy and community beyond digital echo chambers.
The self-directed video pairs the song with skate footage from a group of collaborators, adding another layer of movement and urgency to the track.
“satellite” follows the acclaimed single “junior year,” which earned praise from outlets including Consequence, FLOOD, Brooklyn Vegan, and Under the Radar. Both tracks offer an early glimpse into dollhouse, an 11-song collection that explores identity, performance, and the tension between private lives and public selves.
Self-produced by the band and mixed by Sonny DiPerri (DIIV, Julie), dollhouse was shaped across rehearsal spaces, retreats, and studios spanning Brooklyn, upstate New York, and Northern California.
Slow Fiction will return to the stage on June 19 for the final date of Vundabar’s Gawk 10th anniversary tour at Warsaw in Brooklyn, with more shows expected to be announced soon.
