Borderlands 4 players have plenty to sink their teeth into with the arrival of the hefty Version 1.8 update. Gearbox and 2K have packed this latest release with a mix of premium and free content, including a brand-new story expansion, a challenging endgame raid, the long-awaited return of Circle of Slaughter, and cross-platform saves.
Leading the charge is Bounty Pack 3: A Zane to Kill For, a neon-noir adventure that sends Vault Hunters inside an arcade game to solve the murder of Zane’s Digi-Clone backup. The repeatable mission introduces a new boss, two mini-bosses, fresh high-tier loot, and the launch of Vault Card 3, packed with arcade-themed cosmetics and gear to unlock.
On the free side, all players can now tackle Takedown at Hadron Abyss, a brutal endgame raid set inside a submerged research facility crawling with mutated creatures. Dynamic scaling, Mayhem levels, Hardcore mode, and an arsenal of new Legendary and Pearlescent rewards make it one of the toughest challenges yet.

Fan-favorite Circle of Slaughter also makes its comeback, reimagined for Borderlands 4. The wave-based survival mode ups the stakes with risk-versus-reward progression, chaotic co-op mechanics, and endless opportunities to chase top-tier loot.
Version 1.8 also introduces Cross-Platform Saves, allowing players to seamlessly continue their Vault Hunter journey across any platform where they own the game.
And there’s no slowing down. Bounty Pack 4: Murders & Acquisitions arrives on July 30 with Version 1.9, followed in early September by Story Pack 2 and the debut of the new playable Vault Hunter, Loveless the Hacker, an ex-assassin armed with cutting-edge cybernetics and a deadly digital virus companion.
For Borderlands 4 fans, Version 1.8 delivers one of the game’s biggest content updates yet—and it’s only the beginning.
