2K and Gearbox Software have unveiled the Gameplay Overview for Amon the Forgeknight, the third Vault Hunter detailed in the Borderlands 4 preview series. For players who relish charging into battle, soaking up hits, and retaliating with devastating force, Amon brings a mechanically rich, flexible combat style perfect for both newcomers and veterans eager to experiment with advanced skill interactions.

Amon stands out as a powerhouse melee specialist, wielding Forgeweapons created by Forgedrones integrated into his cybernetically enhanced body. These versatile drones give him access to a diverse arsenal: he can pulverize foes with a Forgehammer, cleave crowds with dual Forgeaxes, or hold the line with a formidable Forgeshield. Amon’s ability to rapidly pivot between offense and defense means he excels as a resilient frontline presence, leading assaults or protecting teammates as the situation demands.

His Action Skills are particularly elaborate. Each skill has primary and secondary functions—allowing for varied combinations and build customizations. For instance, he can summon floating axes for sustained melee damage, conjure a massive hammer for area-of-effect slam attacks, or deploy his shield to absorb incoming projectiles and retaliate with explosive energy. These layered mechanics ensure that even Borderlands veterans will find room to experiment and optimize.

Amon’s backstory adds further depth: once the sole survivor of a Vault monster-worshipping cult, he now hunts those very beasts, driven by vengeance and a sense of poetic justice. His journey as a “warrior-poet” infuses his brutal playstyle with introspection and resilience.

Borderlands 4 launches worldwide September 12, 2025, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam/Epic). Nintendo Switch 2 owners can join the fray starting October 3, 2025. Pre-orders are now live across all platforms. With Amon, players will find a Vault Hunter capable of adapting to any fight—delivering mayhem with both brains and brawn.
