Porches is stepping into a raw new era with the announcement of MASK, a forthcoming mixtape arriving May 14. The New York City project led by Aaron Maine also unveiled “HABIT,” a jagged and emotionally charged single paired with a striking video directed by Rebekah Campbell.
Recorded during spring 2025 in a Wooster Street basement, MASK captures Maine embracing imperfections through a four track recorder and live tape mixing. According to Maine, the inability to endlessly edit the recordings helped preserve a special spirit and emotional honesty throughout the project. The mixtape delivers an intimate collection of hazy, unfiltered songs that highlight the creative freedom behind Porches.
Every track on MASK was written, produced, and mixed by Maine, with contributions from Max Freedberg on drums and piano, Jenna Pascale on cello, and mastering by Michael Blumenfeld. The release follows Porches’ acclaimed 2025 album Shirt and sold out anniversary performances celebrating Pool in New York City, Los Angeles, and San Francisco.
