Cage The Elephant are ready for their next chapter. The multi-GRAMMY-winning rock band has announced Dying In Reverse, a new album arriving February 5, 2027, via Big Loud Rock. Alongside the announcement, the band has released a new single, “Make It Easy,” following a live debut on Jimmy Kimmel Live! earlier this week.

Fans may have gotten an early clue during the band’s Kimmel appearance, when Jimmy briefly held up the album artwork without revealing its identity. The moment sparked plenty of speculation before today’s official announcement.

Nearly 20 years into their career, Cage The Elephant aren’t interested in simply repeating the formula. After spending last year opening for Oasis on their historic North American reunion tour, the band returned to the studio with a renewed appreciation for the energy and spontaneity of rock music.

Cage The ElephantFor Dying In Reverse, the group teamed up with producers Justin Raisen and SADPONY (Jeremiah Raisen), whose previous work includes Charli xcx, SZA, Kim Gordon, and Yeah Yeah Yeahs. The collaboration brought a fresh approach to the recording process, encouraging experimentation and letting songs develop naturally in the room.

The result is a record built around garage-rock grit, psychedelic touches, fuzzed-out guitars, and infectious melodies. Frontman Matthew Shultz moves between rapid-fire vocals and more vulnerable performances, giving the new material an emotional edge while keeping the band’s unmistakable alternative-rock personality intact.

Shultz describes the album as one of the band’s most creatively rewarding experiences, calling it a goodbye to the past and a step toward a new beginning. It’s a fitting description for a group looking to push forward rather than revisit familiar ground.

The announcement arrives during another impressive run for the band. Their single “Beaches In Tennessee” recently became their 14th No. 1 on Billboard’s Alternative Airplay chart, while “Dying In Reverse” was previously introduced on Zane Lowe’s Apple Music show and appears on the EA SPORTS FC 27 soundtrack.

Since forming in Bowling Green, Kentucky, in 2006, Cage The Elephant have accumulated more than six billion streams, numerous Gold and Platinum certifications, and consecutive GRAMMY wins for Best Rock Album with Tell Me I’m Pretty and Social Cues.

With Dying In Reverse, the band seems determined to recapture the excitement of starting something new. After two decades of success, that might be exactly what makes this next chapter worth watching.
